The Saskatchewan Healthcare Recruitment Agency has released an online toolkit to share what communities have done to retain their healthcare workers.
CEO of the Recruitment Agency, Terri Strunk, says part of their mandate is to help cultivate positive experiences for health practitioners, especially for those new to the province or to Canada, through working with all stakeholders on settlement and retention strategies.
She explains that the toolkit is designed for communities welcoming new healthcare providers whether from within the province, the country or internationally.
It shares the activities other communities have had success with and offers guidance on the essentials like finding housing and childcare, to identifying employment opportunities for a spouse, and creating recreational and cultural connections.
An SHRA news release says the goal is to ease the transition and promotes long-term retention of healthcare workers.
