Saskatoon’s Planning, Development and Community Services Committee has approved the funding of ten environmental projects submitted by community groups for 2025.
Originally, 14 projects were submitted for funding, but four were not approved due to being previously funded applicants’ requests, not meeting eligibility criteria, or scoring low on environmental grant criteria.
The selected projects, with a combined request for funding of $49,500, fall into the categories of water conservation, waste reduction, environmental awareness, and active transportation, among others.
For example, Saskatoon Cycles is proposing a Bike Valet program that provides safe and cost-free parking for bicycles at large festivals and major community events.
Although approved by the PDCS committee, City Council must also approve the funding before the community groups can receive it.
