Aaron Patrick will try to resuscitate his football career in Saskatchewan!
The Green and White have a commitment from the American defensive lineman to attend training camp next month here in Saskatoon. Patrick played 17 games over parts of two seasons with Denver, registering 11 total tackles. However, his N-F-L career came to an end mid-way through the 2022 season when he was forced out of bounds in a game against the L-A Chargers and collided with a sideline official. As he did so, his foot reportedly planted on a fabric mat that was being used to cover broadcast cords and cables at SoFi Stadium, resulting in a torn A-C-L. The 28-year-old later filed a lawsuit against the N-F-L, the Chargers, E-S-P-N and several other entities, claiming negligence and premises liability under California law. A U-S district judge later dismissed the case against the N-F-L and the Chargers stating that injury disputes were to be handled by mandatory arbitration under the terms of the league’s collective bargaining agreement. Patrick reached a conditional settlement with other parties involved in the suit in February of this year, the amount of which has not been disclosed. Prior to his stint with the Broncos, the six-foot-four, 245-pound edge rusher spent time on Jacksonville’s practice roster after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2020. Following is the news release from the Riders…..

ROUGHRIDERS ADD ALL-AMERICAN PASS RUSHER AARON PATRICK
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive lineman Aaron Patrick.
Patrick (6’4-245) signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent following the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent some time on the Jaguars’ practice squad late in the 2020 season and early in the 2021 campaign. He was claimed by the Denver Broncos and signed to the active roster on Sept. 23, 2021.
Patrick dressed for 12 games with the 2021 Broncos, making one start, and registered eight tackles that season. He suited up for five games the following year, recording six tackles before suffering a knee injury. He was waived by the Broncos prior to the 2023 season.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, Patrick starred in the college ranks at Eastern Kentucky from 2015 to 2019. He registered 27.5 sacks, just 1.5 shy of the Colonels’ All-Time record.
Patrick was a First-Team Ohio Valley Conference All-Star in 2016, 2018 and 2019. In the latter season, he was the OVC’s Defensive Player of the Year and earned Associated Press First-Team FCS All-American honours. He recorded 10 sacks and 17 tackles for a loss as a graduating player en route to being named a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, presented to the top defensive player in the FCS.
