The Washington Capitals don’t yet know who their first round opponent will be in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

It could be the Montreal Canadiens – or the New Jersey Devils or the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Caps finished first in the Metropolitan Division and Eastern Conference, all while being thrust into winger Alex Ovechkin’s successful pursuit of the N-H-L’s all-time goal-scoring record, previously held by Wayne Gretzky. Mitch Love (pictured) is in his second season as a Washington assistant coach. He was head coach of the Saskatoon Blades for three seasons between 2018 and 2021.
