A 29-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman each face multiple charges following an early Monday morning attempt to evade police.
A Saskatoon Police Service (S-P-S) news release said patrol officers observed a grey Dodge Ram truck being driven in a suspicious manner near Laurier Drive and Diefenbaker Drive at about 1 a.m. on May 5. A traffic stop was attempted, but the suspect driver fled at a high rate of speed before hitting a parked car and a fence in the 600 block of Ells Crescent and coming to a stop. The driver and lone passenger in the vehicle were arrested there with the driver believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant. The passenger was found to be concealing a can of bear spray on her person, as well as methamphetamine. In addition, a stolen license plate was found inside the vehicle. The 29-year-old male driver is charged with dangerous driving, impaired driving, fail to remain at the scene of an accident, evade police and possession of stolen property under five-thousand dollars. The 19-year-old female passenger was arrested on an outstanding warrant and is facing two, new weapons-related offences.
