In the recent update from Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, there are 13 active wildfires with 3 not contained a of 11 a.m., and due to weather conditions helping over the weekend, the provincial fire ban has been rescinded. The SPSA update indicated that Provincial parks, municipalities and R.M.s may still have their own local fire ban in place.
The SPSA are reminding the public to stay diligent in preventing wildfires while enjoying the outdoors and if anyone spots a wildfire to call 1-800-667-9660, dial 9-1-1 or contact their closest SPSA Forest Protection Area office.
Five communities are still under evacuation order which are Creighton, Denare Beach, East Trout Lake, Whelan Bay and priority individuals in Cumberland House.
Evacuees are encouraged to register if they have not done so, through the Sask Evac App, or by calling 1-855-559-5502 between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. for assistance.
The SPSA confirmed over 350 values have been lost due to wildfires and it is expected to increase over 500 once assessments are completed.
