Epiosde For the last year, I’ve been trying to find the Most Saskatchewan Small Town Bar… because who doesn’t like a good ol’ fashioned small town bar, right?
We just hit 30 episodes, so I thought I’d put all of them in one spot so you can watch them all. Thanks so much for watching all these silly videos, means a lot. Remember to go out every once in a while and support places like this! Going to a random town and just checking out all the stories and businesses is a great city folk date idea!
Episode 1 – The Allan Hotel (Allan)
@claytonkroeker Excited for this one. Teaming up with Nokomis Craft Ales for the ‘Most Saskatchewan Small Town Bar’ quest! Not the best… the most Saskatchewan! First stop was the Allan Hotel, just a charmer of a bar. The smell, the carpet, the lighting, the deep freeze… it’s all fantastic. If these walls could talk. Love this pistachio machine too! You can tell the Senior hockey team has had a night or two in here! Love the random trophies, the beer signs from 2001, this is very Sask, 4 wheats out of 5! Nokomis Craft Ales is the perfect sponsor for this. They brew all their beer right here in the province, and love showcasing local ingredients. Pumped to have them on board, they make some tasty stuff! #yxe #sask #smalltown #bar #beer
Episode 2: The Asquith Hotel Bar & Grill (Asquith)
@claytonkroeker Definition of a sneaky good spot. You can tell the owners care about it. The place still has its #smalltown charm but not run down or anything. Just well maintained. You can tell the locals love it. Saw my dads old hearing aid sales guy here, so classic Saskatchewan… So many classic #saskatchewan things about this place I dont want to write them all out haha! The food here is tasty and not expensive, same with the beer. The several types of chairs and deep freeze are your biggest green flags. The carpet is just an added bonus. A reall solid small town bar, 4.5🌾/5🌾 score #yxe #sask Shout out to @FFUN Dodge NB for making the trip here unreal. Best summer ever driving this thing. Road trips are way better in this thing!
Episode 3: The Lucern Hotel (Cut Knife)
@claytonkroeker Wood panelling and bright carpet, this is my jam. If this place had the classic hodge podge of old metal chairs and a bit more of a menu, it’d be perfect. The patio door is legendary. Just the right amount of stuff from 2004 on the wall. Good selection of beer, good staff, just bring cash! Cant match that lighting too, thats small town sask lighting! Also, grab a Nokomis Craft Ale, theyre delicious. #yxe #saskatchewan #smalltown #pub
Episode 4: Hank’s Tavern (Bradwell)
@claytonkroeker If that stage could talk… love how everywhere you look here theres wood. Huge green flag! Also the regular calendar, the sticker fridge, the pool area, the quirky signs, the deep freeze, the connection and effort to keep the bar history alive… you can tell the regulars love it here. So mant good shows have been at this little bar! Theres not much going on in town anymore but they have one heck of a bar! Shout out to Hank for being a gem, shout out to Nokomis Craft Ales for making this quest happen. #smalltown #saskatchewan #bar #sask #beers

@claytonkroeker My kind of place. Dont judge a book by its cover… I mean its not Buckingham Palace in there, but it catches you off guard! Rumour is the food is unreal, super tasty, and giant portions. Their burgers are legendary in these parts. You just cant recreate the vibes in here. Its one of a kind. The lighting, the carpet, the booths, the chairs, its all so classic Sask. You can tell there have been many a parties in here. Super cool spot, if you love dive bars, come here. Episode 6: The Harris Hotel (Harris)
@claytonkroeker Best furniture, chairs, fake ducks hanging from the ceiling, and VLT room so far. As soon as you walk in you’re like ‘oh yeah this place rocks’. Great pool area, great bar area, great regulars, and fantastic 90s beer posters. Old Ag hats and crochet stuff on the wall, classic Sask… and seriously the chairs are just fantastic. Awesome little volleyball area by the patio, love that little spot in the back with just one table to play crib or Kaiser or whatever. Oweners seemed super nice, staff was awesome. Another gem of a spot. But seriously I want that chair, might steal it. Shout out Nokomis Craft Ales for making it possible to showcase places like this. Their episode is coming soon! #saskatchewan #smalltown #beers #bar #sask #yxe
Episode 7: The Nokomis Hotel (Nokomis)
@claytonkroeker Unreal town, unreal bar, unreal brewery! If youre ever in the area stop in at both the bar and Nokomis Craft Ales! Love the patio there, such a great space! The bar in town… where do we start? That hand painted map, the pay phone, the rider curtains, the wood panelling, the money chairs, THE SHINY CARPET, the saloon feel on the outside, the crinkle cut fries, the decor… this is a good one friends! Little restaurant next door too for the whole family. You could get real rowdy in this place! #saskatchewan #smalltown #bars #beer #brewery
Episode 8: The Lumsden Hotel & Steak Pit (Lumsden)
@claytonkroeker The least divey spot so far, its actually really well kept in here. No variety of chairs or gross carpet or anything like that. Its pretty legit inside but still has the small town Saskatchewan vibe. Unreal beef dip, real good food here according to the locals. love how theres senior hockey stuff all over the bar. Love the VLT area, super unique with the booths. Pharmacy in the mens room is a nice touch. Staff was lovely and the patio rocks… no real red flags here just all green ones. Gokd little bar Lumsden! #saskatchewan #yqr #yxe #smalltown #beer

Episode 9: Crossroads Tavern (Blaine Lake)
@claytonkroeker Nice open concept in here, right when you walk in you see all of it! Its not the size, its how you use it. Love this space! The old beer signs, the local stuff up on the wall, the bar top in the corner, the awesome corner for pool… but the pickled eggs and variety of chairs are the biggest green flags. Well, next to the sausage. Seriously; so good, same with the dry ribs! When a place has plastic baskets you know itll rock. Friendly staff and friendly vibes, classic #saskatchewan #smalltown #bar #yxe #beer
Episode 10: Lou’s Bar (Shellbrook)
@claytonkroeker Best carpet contender alert here friends. You cant find stuff like that anymore. Plus the variety of metal chairs, 80’s speakers, and unique smoking/patio area… yeah this place checks alot of boxes. Apparently the wings are amazing, I was too early for them. Love the pool area, good snacks on the rack, and a very trippy bathroom. But the best part is the outside. They dont make buildings like this anymore. Looks so classic Saskatchewan. Very cool little bar, shout out Nokomis Craft Ales for making it possible to showcase local places like this! #saskatchewan #smalltown #bars #beer #yxe

Episode 11: The Elephant Bar (Ayelsbury)
@claytonkroeker Legendary spot during @Saskatchewan Roughriders season. Everyone from #yxe making the trip for a game always stops in here. The chairs, the wood floors, the disco ball and free calendars… this place just screams Saskatchewan. Love the Rider flags from years past on thr ceiling. Love the photos of regulars all over the place. The menu is solid and food is tasty. Staff is the best part. So nice and friendly! You always see someone you know and make some new friends! Love this place. #saskatoon #cfl #smalltown #bar #wings #beer
Episode 12: The Craven Motor Inn (Craven)
@claytonkroeker Been here a bunch for Country Thunder, but never made my way into this place. I’ve been missing out all these years! The variety of 90’s chairs, the crib board table, the jerky corner… so many green flags. This was the first place where the steak pit was working too! It’s one of those places that has good vibes from the moment you step in. Something about the lightning makes it feel nostalgic in here too. Big fan of this #smalltown bar! #yxe #yqr #saskatchewan #bar #steak
Episode 13: The Vonda Hotel (Vonda)
@claytonkroeker Best chairs so far on this quest, and the carpet is top 3 for sure. An ideal spot to unwind on Friday after a long week. Love the Rider stuff everywhere, just love how this bar is setup. The food here is fantastic too. Only find deals like that in small towns. Unreal burger, so flavourful. The onion rings were unreal… and some of the best pie in #Saskatchewan right here. Come for the bar, stay for the good food. Sneaky good spot, my kind of place. #yxe #smalltown #bar #burger #pie
Episode 14: The Marengo Hotel (Marengo)
@claytonkroeker As soon as I saw the hot nuts machine, knew it was going to be a great spot. The prices here are from 1994, and the burgers were solid! One of the best snack racks so far too. The ice cream is for sure a nice touch. The entrance with all the ag posters and ads is so classic. The two ladies working were so nice. Love the brands and basically everything on the wall. The buffalo head is huge! If you’re driving from Saskatoon to Calgary, make this a pit stop! #saskatchewan #smalltown #yxe #bar #sask
Episode 15: 50 Shots (Langham)
@claytonkroeker They do have an ‘old school’ kinda bar in town too (it’s called Shysters I believe?) but it was closed when I was there. This place though, even though it’s in a new building, it has that old school Sask feel to it! Love all the love to the local teams, local radio playing on the speakers, great area for pool and live music. Plus some good pub food, the pizza was solid! Not my favourite sauce but whatever I’m not picky. Staff seemed friendly, and the locals seem to love this place. Huge green flag is the amount of stuff people have made for the place. You got a good one Langham! #yxe #smalltown #beer #pizza #saskatchewan #sask
Episode 16: Hepburn Centennial Bowl (Hepburn)
@claytonkroeker It’s technically not a bar, but we’re counting it. Has those small town bar vibes and it’s all Hepburn’s got so why not? It has so many green flags too. The Sailor Dan was a nice surprise. So many cool old signs and town history knick knacks. Love the retro vibes from the bowling alley, feels like 1982 in here, mean that in a good way. Unreal dry ribs, not greasy and the right amount of crispy. They got the plastic cups IYKYK. Love the NBA jam and little arcade. Just a cool little spot that reminds you of back in the day. #yxe #smalltown #saskatchewan #bowling #bar
Episode 17: The Vanscoy Hotel (Vanscoy)
@claytonkroeker Place could use a a few new ceiling tiles but other than that, immaculate small town bar vibes in here. Great spot for darts and pool. Lots of tables with a bunch of random chairs, great sign. A bunch of Rider stuff and random stickers from travelers, great signs. The vintage beer merch really puts the cherry on top. The foods solid too, Betty doesn’t mess around. Nice people in here too, had a great chat with them. Nothing beats making friends at the local pub. Shout out to Trudy nicest server ever. #saskatchewan #smalltown #bar #beer
Episode 18: VL’s Lounge/Clavet Motor Inn (Clavet)
@claytonkroeker Most Saskatchewan Small Town Bar: Episode 18 – Clavet (Shout out to Nokomis Craft Ales for sponsoring the quest. Best sours ever!) To quote Toby Keith… this is my kind of place! The pool setup is great, love the stage and dance floor. Nice and open, lots of space for activities. Love the old wooden chairs and tables. Bars don’t have character like this anymore! You can tell memories have been made here, they just don’t make like them this anymore! – The Clayton Kroeker Show #yxe #saskatchewan #smalltown #beer #bars
Episode 19: The Vawn Hotel (Vawn)
@claytonkroeker Most Saskatchewan Small Town Bar: Episode 19 – The Vawn Hotel Judging by the outside, you wouldn’t think that there’s a cool little saloon in the basement of this place. Don’t judge a book by its cover! When there’s a pistachio machine you know it’s going to be good times. Awesome area for pool here too. Great staff with great food. The steaks here are legendary, it was perfect. Not lots going on in Vawn but they have an awesome little bar, that’s for sure! Shout out to Nokomis Craft Ales for making it possible to showcase small town Sask. places like this one! #smalltown #saskatchewan #yxe #beers #bar
Episode 20: The Dinsmore Hotel (Dinsmore)
@claytonkroeker Nothing wrong with this place at all, but also nothing super crazy about it… other than the chairs, some unreal old school chairs here. I’m not putting the place down, nothing wrong with just a normal bar! The dry ribs were good, won some money on the vlts, would be a good spot to play some pool… If you like old school dive style bars like, you’ll like this place too! Simple is better sometimes! Shout out to Nokomis Craft Ales for helping us out with the quest! 20 episodes down, lots more to go! #saskatchewan #smalltown #bars #dryribs
Episode 21: Route 41 (Yellow Creek)
@claytonkroeker These wings are legit. Almost too legit to quit. The perfect amount of crunch, so juicy, not fatty… they were so good! It’s always the places that look least suspecting from the outside that have the best wings! As soon as you walk in here you just know it’s going to be a good time. Love the patio and that little back room is so cool haha. The owner is a gem and so is everything about this place. Great spot, go support it #saskatchewan #smalltown #wings #bars #yxe
Episode 22: Ditches Den Saloon (Spalding)
@claytonkroeker Crokinole, crib, antiques, and the Red Green Show… not bad at all. Love the cabin vibes at this place. Great corner to play pool, great chairs, just a great old school cabin vibe in here. Cool little patio and picnic area too. Real good wings too. The baja chipotle was so tasty! Can tell from the outside it’s a classic small town bar and that’s exactly what it is! Great spot! #saskatchewan #smalltown #bars #saloon #wings
Episode 23: Mike’s Beach Bar (Manitou Beach)
@claytonkroeker Cool on the outside, cool on the inside. People with cabins at Manitou are lucky to have this gem of a spot. Coolest patio ever, what a spot to play volleyball. Love all the wood, and the metal chairs, and the tiny dance floor, and just the aura inside. Such cool sports stuff hanging on the wall but it doesn’t take away from the Beach theme. Everything in here just kinda meshes well! Great pool corner, solid menu. Lotta memories have been made here, you can just tell. Shout out Nokomis Craft Ales for making it possible to showcase awesome Saskatchewan places like this. Support local next time you’re getting some #beer #yxe #saskatchewan #sask #beach #lakelife #smalltown #bars
Episode 24: The Delmas Hotel (Delmas)
@claytonkroeker Each VLT machine has a different chair, love that custom made cover for the stool. It’s such an old school feel spot with the decor. The owners were vacuuming and cleaning when I got there, apparently a big group was getting after it the night before. So this place still gets rowdy, you love to see it. Ignore the smell near the back and you’re good! Love the old school chairs. It’s also kind of like a corner store with the slushes and other stuff they sell. But also just feels like a super rustic small town bar. Probably not a place for food but a place for a few pops! #saskatchewan #smalltown #yxe #bars #saloon #beer
Episode 25: The Royal George Hotel (Luseland)
@claytonkroeker This place just looks legendary from the outside alone. Love bars that are just one long rectangle like this. Pool and darts area with some booths on one end, the main bar area in the other. The bottle cap bar and the old school liquor machine are so cool. Love that they have a signature drink and a grandma making cinnamon buns too. The burger was fantastic, a homemade masterpiece. Nice and cheesy and the bun was great. Unreal onion rings too. Good food, good staff, good aura at this spot. My kind of place, love old hotel bars! #saskatchewan #smalltown #burger #onionrings #bar #yxe #sask
Episode 26 – Bonus Episode: Buck’s Place (Leask)
@claytonkroeker If a poutine comes in one of these red plastic baskets, you know it’s going to be good. Like I say at the end of the video, the term ‘Hidden Gem’ is sooooooo overused now. But this little place in Leask is literally hidden in an auto shop, so I think it’s fitting. The clubhouse tastes like grandmas house, I don’t know how else to describe it. If you ever golf the awesome little 9-hole course in town, make sure you stop here after! #smalltown #poutine #saskatchewan #clubhouse #cars
Episode 27: The Laird Hotel (Laird)
@claytonkroeker Might be moving to Laird, such a cute town with an awesome little bar! The owners here were so nice. You can tell they care about the history of the place and want to make sure they carry on the legacy. Love these smaller ‘beverage room’ style bars. Just one small room, a pool table, few tables, and a bar top… that’s all you need! Well, and a sweet patio! The pub food here is top notch. The wings were a 9/10, those broccoli bites were a 9.5/10, same with the mozzarella sticks. The gravy for the poutine was super tasty, everything was unreal! Love the aura and ambiance, the food, the people, the 60s chairs… if you’re looking for a cool road trip adventure, mosey by this spot! Show out Nokomis Craft Ales for making it possible to showcase cool #Saskatchewan spots like this! #yxe #bar #beer #wings #cheesepull #mozzarellasticks #smalltown #sask
Episode 28: Willy’s Roadhouse (Bethune)
@claytonkroeker Just wait until you see the outside and the backyard of this place… unreal! Looks wayyyy bigger from the outside. Then you walk in and it’s like ‘oh what a cool little spot’! Old school carpet and chairs is a great sign. Tons of @Saskatchewan Roughriders gear everywhere is also a great sign. Lots of cool #saskatchewan Knick-knacks everywhere you look. Friendly staff too, Willy is a gem! But yeah, love the outside. That cool clubhouse patio and then bam, the little concert venue backyard! Super cool, haven’t seen anything like this yet. They got some concerts planned for out here, check them out! The burger was good, super big and thick not just a little puck. Good fries too, bet the poutine here slaps. Great little spot. #yqr #smalltown #sask #yxe
Episode 29: The Arlington Hotel
@claytonkroeker I didn’t get to see Brock Lesnar, but that’s where the negatives end… THIS BAR ROCKS! It’s not the classic small bars we feature with the old metal chairs, carpet, and bad lighting (love those bars too) but it still has that small town bar feel to it. That steak pit is a great centre piece for the place, love all the history attached to this place, and that mural is just awesome. The food is what’s most famous here, the burger and steaks were top notch. Another not so classic small town bar thing, the rooms upstairs are actually legit! You can tell the whole staff loves this place, they keep great care of it. Nothing but good things to say. Great town, great little bar, great people. Classic. #saskatchewan #smalltown #burger #steak #saloon
Episode 30: The MacNutt Hotel (MacNutt)
@claytonkroeker Love this bar. Has such a cozy feel to it, right when you walk in you kind of feel like your home. The retro carpet-chair combo was my first sign that this place was going to be good. That giant wall of @hawkinscheeziesofficial confirmed that, best wall ever! Great spot to watch a Jays or Riders game, you can’t match the aura in here. The burgers and wing nights here are legendary in the area, but I was in a soup kind of a mood. Unreal beef barley and chicken wild rice soup here. So freaking good. If the soups good, usually everything else is good. Hazel is a gem, she does a great job running this place. Such a gem of a spot! #saskatchewan #smalltown #yxe #yqr #prairies
Episode 31: Churchbridge
@claytonkroeker Big fan of the little 2nd level in this place, adds a nice touch. Decent little patio too. This bar is just great overall. Everything meshes so well. It’s got a retro feel but you wouldn’t say run down at all. It’s super well kept in here. Even the rooms up top are solid! This is text book ‘they don’t make them like this anymore’ I mean look at the ceiling! The beauty chairs, the old beer merch that somehow looks new, that picnic table with the carvings… great bar! #saskatchewan #smalltown #beer #sask ♬ original sound – Clayton.Kroeker
Episode 32: Norms (Windthorst)
@claytonkroeker You just know a place called Norms is going to be good. Shout out to Tracy the server, she was a gem. Love the back room in here, the wood and the chairs and the sign give it such a cool retro vibe. This would be an unreal place to watch a Rider game! They might win the fanciest snack rack award. Bunch of people stopped in for ice and other random stuff while we were here. Kind of acts like a jack of all trades for the town. The burger was unreal, homemade and everything. Like the little VLT area too. Another great Saskatchewan small town bar! Did a video on their little golf course here too, fun sand green track! #saskatchewan #smalltown #beer #burger #yxe ♬ original sound – Clayton.Kroeker
Episode 33: Big Murs (Dundurn)
@claytonkroeker LOVE this bar. We have a little family cabin at Blackstrap just down the road, so I didn’t want to play favourites and do it right away… but I come here a lot and never have a bad time. Great spot to watch a Rider game or stop in after a long ride on the bikes or sleds. So many people from Saskatoon make the trek down here frequently for the good deals and atmosphere. You can try, but you just can’t match the aura of a place like this. The patio is one-of-a-kind, the inside is a great mixture of random stuff and actual things, and the pub food is very solid. Wings were great and I’ve had the $2 burger before… it’s legit! The staff rocks, they’re always doing cool things in the community and bringing in fun stuff for the bar. It’s a legendary spot in these parts for a reason. Just a fantastic little bar. #yxe #saskatchewan #saskatoon #smalltown #wings ♬ original sound – Clayton.Kroeker
Episode 34: BNR Bar (Lucky Lake)
@claytonkroeker This place could be a beer memorabilia museum. So much cool stuff on the wall, lots of it Sask related. Best steak pit room ever, that carpet is so money. Unreal pool hall in the back, great aura there. Little stage for live music, great VLT area, great bar top… this place rocks you guys. Food is great too, homemade pizza and the wings are fantastic! A must stop if you’re in the area for sure. Too many green flags to list. One of my favourites so far #saskatchewan #smalltown #beer #wings #yxe ♬ original sound – Clayton.Kroeker
Episode 35: Cyn’s Berr Parlour (Macrorie)
@claytonkroeker When you google ‘Cyns Beer Parlour’ one of the first pictures that comes up is a horse hanging out in a bar… that should tell you all you need to know! Cyn is a gem, the beer is cold, and the fries are delightful. It’s a charming little spot with a great patio. Shout out to the regulars in town who I got to chat with for about an hour. Made me feel right at home! The wood floors, the knitted socks/booties, the hidden snack rack… love this place. #saskatchewan #smalltown #beer #wings #yxe ♬ original sound – Clayton.Kroeker
