The 2025 Canada Summer Games continue today and run through Sunday, August 24th in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Saskatchewan has a full contingent of 377 athletes and 85 coaches taking part in the 19 sports contested in the multi-sport event, representing 92 different communities from across the province. There is action today in men’s baseball, women’s basketball, men’s basketball, women’s box lacrosse, canoe/kayak, cycling, women’s rugby sevens, men’s rugby sevens, sailing, men’s soccer, women’s fastpitch-softball, swimming, tennis, women’s beach volleyball and men’s beach volleyball. Saskatchewan has 2 medals – 1 gold, 0 silver and 1 bronze – tied for 7th place in the provincial standings.

The Canadian Junior Men’s Amateur Golf Championship continues today and runs through tomorrow in Bathurst, New Brunswick. Today is the third of four rounds in the 72-hole event for individuals. The field of 156 competitors has been reduced to the low __ and includes Aricin Franklin, Ethan Hunter and Ryan Mosher – all of Saskatoon – plus non team members Lucas Sturgeon of Saskatoon, Dane Giesbrecht of Warman, Shae Maunula of North Battleford and Matty Schmiess of Swift Current.
The Canadian Junior Women’s Amateur Golf Championship continues today and runs through tomorrow in Courtenay, B-C. Today is the second of three rounds in the 54-hole event for individuals. Today is also the second and final round of inter-provincial team play. The field of 134 competitors includes the Saskatchewan team of Grace Odnokon of Saskatoon, Tayla Perry and Yuna Lee, both of Regina – plus non-team member Sarah Henderson of Saskatoon.

The I-T-F World Tennis Tour’s Saskatoon Challenger women’s professional W-50 tournament continues today and runs through Sunday at the Riverside Badminton and Tennis Club. Over 60 professional players from across Canada and internationally are competing for a share of the 40-thousand-dollar, U-S, prize pool. Matches today start at 10 a.m. and run through the evening as the event is down to the round of 16 in singles and quarter-finals in doubles.
