Thirty-one-year-old conservative political activist Charlie Kirk has died after he was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University.
The young father and co-founder of Turning Point USA was answering questions in front of a large crowd when a single shot rang out about two minutes into the event, striking him on the left side of his neck. Officials say the suspect is not yet in custody.
The university was evacuated shortly after the incident, which took place just after noon, and at least 60 first responder vehicles were present, blocking the campus entrance.
Prayers for Kirk blanketed social media platforms prior to the news of his death, indicating significant support from figures such as President Donald Trump, Russell Brand, Ben Shapiro, Pierre Poilievre and Benjamin Netanyahu.
Kirk was married with two children.
