The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) has closed the Request for Bids process for an independent review of the 2025 wildfire season.
The after-action review is a response to Saskatchewan’s unprecedented wildfire season, which saw more than 500 wildfires in the province. That is well above the five-year average.
Corrections, Policing and Public Safety Minister Tim McLeod said the review will focus on the SPSA’s response, evacuation and recovery aspects of the wildfire season and adds that the government is taking action to learn from this year’s wildfire season to make sure that Saskatchewan’s people are safe.
The review process is expected to begin in the next few weeks after a third party is seleceted and will conclude before the 2026 wildfire season.
