The Moose Jaw Warriors made amends for an embarrassing loss two nights earlier by humbling the Saskatoon Blades 6-2 Friday night at SaskTel Centre.

Unlike Wednesday, when the Warriors let leads of 4-0 and 5-1 slip away in a 7-5 loss to visiting Kamloops, Moose Jaw came out determined to avoid a repeat as Lyndon Lakovic scored twice while the Warriors out-shot the Bridge City Bunch 16-9 in the first period and the Blue and Gold were unable to recover. The loss ended a five-game winning streak for the Blades, now 7-3-0 for the season, as well as being the first loss on home ice this season for Saskatoon and Moose Jaw’s first win at SaskTel Centre since October 24, 2023 – ending a run of five straight wins for the Bridge City Bunch over the Warriors at home. Rookie American goaltender Kyle Jones sparkled for Moose Jaw, stopping 31 shots, allowing only Jack Kachkowski and Cooper Williams to dent the twine behind him. Kachkowski’s goal was his first of the season, coming in his 100th career W-H-L game. Blue and Gold defenceman Tristen Doyle assisted on both tallies. On the Warriors’ side, defenceman William Degagne thrilled family and friends as his first career W-H-L goal was the eventual game winner while fellow Saskatoon product Kash Andresen scored into an empty net to close out the game’s scoring. On Saturday night, the Blades will look to take their turn at avenging a bad setback and splitting the home-and-home series in Moose Jaw.
