This is Canadian Youth Road Safety Week and to highlight the importance of young people being aware of the rules for staying safe on the road the RCMP shared a story.
Recently, an officer from the Regina Combined Traffic Services Section (CTSS) stopped an individual going 174 kilometres per hour in a 110 km/hr zone on Highway #1 near Belle Plaine.
Police say the young driver said they were speeding because they were in a rush to get to their exam. The driver received a $955 ticket, a seven-day license suspension, and a 30-day vehicle impoundment.
Any first-time drivers in Saskatchewan have to complete the six stages of the Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) program
