As temperatures drop, City crews are shifting their focus from construction to winter road maintenance.
Numerous large projects were completed this construction season in saskatoon, including the Broadway Bridge, which is expected to open at the end of this month.
Other major projects include water and sewer infrastructure upgrades, as well as the implementation of Link transit system infrastructure. A release from the City says by the end of 2025, 33 new bus station platforms will be completed, bringing the total to 41 since construction began last year. An additional 44 platforms are planned for 2026.
Additional projects of note include the resurfacing of Warman Road northbound from 33rd Street to Circle Drive, Brighton Boulevard construction, and continued construction on 8th Street between Brighton Boulevard and McOrmond Drive. These jobs stacked up for a total of 200 kilometres of improved roads, 4 kilometres of new roads, and 10 kilometres of new sidewalks.
Ahead of the first major snow fall event, roadways staff are prepared to begin snow and ice management.
