A 17-year-old Prince Albert boy is facing charges after he unknowingly sprayed an off-duty police officer.
On Saturday, several off-duty officers were driving in the 600 block of 22nd Street East when the boy ran across the street. The officers rolled down their window to speak with suspect, when he allegedly discharged bear spray into the vehicle. The officer exited his vehicle and detained the suspect until police arrived on scene. The victim was then treated by Parkland Ambulance paramedics for what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result, the 17-year-old male has been charged with possession of a weapon and assault with a weapon. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday.
