Battlefords RCMP received multiple calls about a man threatening people with a machete on 108th Street in North Battleford.
Officers went to the scene around 10:45pm and saw two men. One was arrested, but later released without being charged. The second man fled and was later arrested after a police service dog led officers to a nearby house. A machete was recovered and so was a firearm magazine.
The investigation determined a vehicle window had been smashed and there was an attempt to steal a cell phone.
An 18-year-old man from North Battleford is charged with the following:
– one count, mischief under $5,000;
– one count, robbery;
– one count, unlicensed possession of a prohibited weapon;
– one count, resist peace officer; and
– one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
