The Regina Police Service is reminding community members to be vigilant after a sharp increase in financial crimes this year.
So far in 2025, there have been 781 reported instances of fraud, counterfeit, and identity theft, compared to only 437 in the same period last year. Losses have totalled around $10 million year-to-date and investigators are managing over 100 active fraud investigations.
The Regina Police Service reminds people to verify the legitimacy of payment and personal information requests, monitor their accounts regularly to check for unauthorized transactions, and to report suspected fraud immediately to police.
