Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, along with the Saskatoon Tribal Council and CUMFI, have received an award for their partnership’s work toward reconciliation.
The partnership won the 2025 Canada School Boards Association National Reconciliation Partnership Award for their work together over the course of over two decades.
Greater saskatoon Catholic Schools and STC’s partnership focuses on bringing Cree language and cultural learning to the classroom. The partnership with CUMFI works to bring Metis culture into schools.
The school division, along with STC and CUMFI have also opened schools as part of their partnership. the new awasisask ka-nimihtocik St. Francis School is the country’s largest Cree bilingual school, while the Metis School of Excellence at St. Michael Community School teaches Michif language and Metis Culture.
