For the second time in as many days, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced the signing of a Saskatchewan Huskies’ star player.
The Green and White have brought back Canadian receiver and 2025 C-F-L Draft pick Daniel Wiebe, who was selected in the eighth round and attended training camp in 2025, before returning to the Huskies for his final season of U Sports eligibility. The 5’9″, 190-pound pass catcher capitalized on that opportunity, producing a career year to be named the Canada West Football Player of the Year and a finalist for the Hec Crighton Trophy. Wiebe was also recognized as a first-team All-Canadian for the second year in a row, as he helped the Huskies to a 7-1 record, a Hardy Cup victory and a berth in the Vanier Cup. In 12 games, regular season and playoffs, he caught 78 passes for 1,257 yards and 13 touchdowns, despite battling turf toe over the stretch run. Wiebe’s signing Thursday follows that of Dogs’ team-mate and linebacker Seth Hundeby Wednesday by the Riders. Following is the news release from the Roughriders…..
