Cutknife RCMP are investigating a homicide and aggravated assault on the Little Pine First Nation, about two hours northwest of Saskatoon.

Officers responded to call about a report of injured people at a residence on Monday evening. One man was declared dead on the scene by paramedics with the victim identified as 43-year-old Tyrone Kakum of the Little Pine First Nation. A second adult was sent to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Twenty-four-year-old Keenan Starr from Little Pine First Nation is charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of aggravated assault. Starr made his first court appearance on Wednesday in North Battleford.
