Two men have been charged by Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Crime Reduction team after being caught possessing drugs and weapons and attempting to flee police.
On December 9th, the Crime Reduction Team attempted to stop a vehicle near 6th street in Meadow Lake but the vehicle drove away and soon got stuck in a ditch. The two men were arrested soon after.
Officers searched and found around 30 grams of methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of cocaine, two handgun-style airguns,drug trafficking paraphernalia and several stolen tools.As a result of the investigation, 37 year old Billy Joe Villeneuve of Flying Dust First Nation and 35 year old Darren Durocher of Meadow Lake were charged with fleeing police, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.
Villeneuve was also charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, while Durocher was charged with five counts of failure to comply with release order, four counts of firearm possession contrary to order, and one count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was also charged in relation to other incidents investigated by Meadow Lake RCMP.
Both men appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Thursday.
