The Saskatchewan NDP says the Premier’s decision to move towards private healthcare is only catering to the few who can afford it.
Party Leader Carla Beck says Scott Moe’s year-end interview with Rebel News indicated that he would follow Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and explore methods of lessening the burden on the public health sector.
An NDP news release continues that the Premier also failed to make a simple commitment that he would not pursue privatization of healthcare in Question Period on December 2.
This morning, the Provincial Government released a statement explaining that the “NDP says new ideas are needed in healthcare but reject new ideas in healthcare.”
It continues that the government will continue to search for innovative approaches to ensure Saskatchewan families can access high-quality healthcare close to home, which includes delivery of some publicly funded, privately delivered health services and the virtual physician program.
