At $100,000 Biggar received one of the biggest allotments to complete phase four of their walking and bike path as part of funding provided in the Provincial Traffic Safety Fund’s latest round of grants.
Dundun now has funding for the Pathway and Solar Powered Lighting for Vulnerable Road Users after receiving $75,478 while the City of Humboldt was granted $88,725 for Highway 5 trail paving. The City of Saskatoon received $67,000 to install a pedestrian crossing device at 33rd Street and Avenue B and Warman was allocated $16,629 for warning stop lights at the fire hall.
Using proceeds from photo speed enforcement, like the cameras installed on Circle Drive in Saskatoon, Provincial Traffic Safety Fund grants are awarded twice a year to Saskatchewan communities.
Almost $2,051,000 was allocated for the current round of grants. Eligible projects must focus on one or more of these traffic safety priorities: speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving, occupant protection, intersection safety, aggressive driving, vulnerable road users or medically-at-risk drivers.
