The Saskatchewan government says effective Tuesday (Jan 20) it is eliminating the G-Endorsement requirements for Canadian Association of Energy Contractors (CAOEC) member drivers.

As well the province is removing the requirement for those (CAOEC) service rig drivers to submit periodic medical reports to SGI.

In a news release the Minister Responsible for SGI Jeremy Harrison said, “Our government is doing all we can to make sure our energy sector is the most competitive in the world.”

The government says Service rig operators receive highly specialized training through a training program and certification process delivered by CAOEC. The program is recognized by both Saskatchewan and Alberta, and these regulatory changes also harmonize Saskatchewan’s standards with those in Alberta.

In the July 2025 Fraser Institute Annual Survey of Mining Companies it said on overall investment attractiveness, Saskatchewan ranks in the global top ten for the sixth time in seven years, and in terms of policy factors alone, Saskatchewan ranks in the global top three.
