Punnichy RCMP made an arrest involving fentanyl on the same day the Ministry of Health issued a drug alert for the area.
Around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, Punnichy RCMP responded to a break-in at a residential garage in Raymore. They located a male suspect at the scene and upon searching his person seized approximately 34 grams of fentanyl, and a set of polymer knuckles.
Twenty-nine-year-old Jonas McNab from Muskowekwan First Nation is facing a half dozen charges of which half involve drugs and weapons.
The RCMP says they can’t confirm any connection between this arrest and the recent drug alert that was issued.
A second drug overdose alert was issued the day after this arrest, for Saskatoon. Prairie Harm Reduction reported six overdoses in two days that required multiple doses of naloxone. In the Punnichy area there were five suspected overdoses including one death. The overdose drug alert is in effect for both regions until February 4th.
