Around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night Saskatoon Police dispatched officers to a liquor store in Hudson Bay Park after receiving a report that a robbery had just occurred.
Police say a man entered the business in the 1600 block of 33rd Street West and began loading several bottles of alcohol into a duffel bag.
When confronted, employees say the suspect brandished a bladed weapon and fled in a silver Mazda.
A short time later, officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the silver Mazda in the Confederation Drive area.
After conducting a traffic stop a suspect was arrested and police say they found, near the passenger’s seat, the stolen alcohol, a baton, and a machete.
And then around 8:30 p.m. in Lawson Heights, Saskatoon Police responded to a robbery in the 100 Block Primrose Drive where a man entered a business, selected multiple bottles of alcohol and tried to leave without paying.
He was confronted and threatened a staff member with a knife, then fled.
A search of the area did not locate the suspect, and the matter is under investigation.
Meanwhile, earlier on Wednesday, around 2:45 p.m. the Saskatoon Police Service say two people were bear sprayed while getting off a city bus.
The injured person call came in from the area of 23rd Street West and Avenue H North.
Officers located two victims who say they were bear sprayed by two people getting off the bus at the same time. They did not know the suspects – who fled the area.
