Bruce Korte’s (pictured) Saskatoon-Nutana foursome is in Geneva, Switzerland, getting ready to represent Canada at the World Senior Men’s Curling Championship.
Korte – with Darrell McKee, Kory Kohuch, Rory Galanowski and alternate Arlen Hall – are getting a second shot at finally representing Canada after winning the Canadian title this past December. After winning the national title in 2019, the global pandemic kept the Saskatoonians from playing in the Worlds in either of 2020 or 2021. The Korte squad plays their first game at midnight going into Sunday against Nigeria. There are 34 teams, split into six pools for round-robin competition. Canada has won the last six World Senior Men’s titles. Plus, the World Senior Women’s and World Mixed Doubles events start this weekend with Canada represented by Sherry Middaugh’s Ontario squad along with the husband and wife duo of Colton and Kadriana Lott from Manitoba.
