A male youth has been arrested after a potential threat was made to a school on Sturgeon Lake First Nation.
On May 11 around 8:30 a.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a report from the school, which then enacted its hold and secure protocols.
Although officers determined there was no imminent threat to the school, it maintained its hold and secure protocols throughout May 11 and cancelled classes on May 12.
RCMP say investigation determined the report came from an individual who had observed threatening content, directed toward the school, on a social media platform, and reported it to the school from outside of Canada.
Officers were then able to arrest a male teenager at a home on Sturgeon Lake First Nation on May 12. They seized a BB gun, knife and axe at the residence. He was a student at the school.
He has appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court and was remanded into custody until his next scheduled appearance on May 20th.
