The Saskatoon Police Service tried to pull over a motorcycle in the area of 8th Street and Clarence Avenue around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday after seeing it did not have license plate.
Officers also report that the motorcyclist disobeyed numerous red lights on Broadway Avenue and again initiated a traffic stop as the motorcycle was being parked in the 600 block of 1oth Street but once more they say the motorcycle took off, this time at a high rate of speed in a residential area.
The Air Support Unit began monitoring and watched the motorcycle being parked on Mallin Crescent in Silverwood Heights and they say a 21-year-old-man was arrested shortly after. Police say the motorcycle was not registered. As a result, the 21-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop for police. The motorcycle has been impounded for 30 days.
Earlier on Wednesday, just after 4 p.m., police responded to a report of a physical altercation in progress in the 1500 block of 20th Street West. Police were told that one of the individuals involved had a gun and was now walking northbound on Avenue P from 20th Street.
A suspect matching the description given was spotted walking near 22nd Street and Avenue S and an arrest was made shortly after inside a nearby apartment building. Police say officers also located a handgun later determined to be a pellet gun. Police were not able to track down victims related to the incident but did charge a 28-year-old man with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and three counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
Early Wednesday morning police responded to a report of a stabbing in College Park. Shortly before 2 a.m. on Wednesday police were called to 14th Street East and Acadia Drive. Officers located a male victim who was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say a confrontation occurred between multiple suspects and the victim – who were not believed known to each other – and the victim was stabbed and the suspects fled the area. Members of the Serious Assault Unit are investigating and anyone with information is asked to contact Saskatoon Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
