A 31-year-old man may have been able to evade one police service, but he couldn’t avoid being caught by a second one – one that utilizes air support!
The incident happened back early Friday morning, at about 1:20 a.m., when the Saskatoon Police Service (S-P-S) received a request for assistance from the Saskatchewan RCMP after a vehicle took off from a Corman Park Police Service (C-P-P-S) officer during a traffic stop near Martensville. The suspect vehicle went southbound at a high rate of speed towards Saskatoon where the S-P-S Air Support Unit (A-S-U) began tracking it. After about an hour, the suspect vehicle came to a stop in the 100 block of Avenue P South. The A-S-U noted during the hour drive that the suspect vehicle dropped off numerous passengers at various locations. The driver was then arrested without further incident. Officers located suspected methamphetamine on his person, then found a baton in a search of the vehicle. The 31-year-old suspect is charged with dangerous driving, possession of a weapon, possession of methamphetamine and breaching court-imposed conditions.
