The Lumsden Fire Department, in a post on Facebook said, “Don’t get caught up in the social media comments sections. Much of it is wrong.”
This is in reference to a fatal two vehicle accident east of Lumsden on Highway 11 which is believed to have involved a Saskatchewan Roughrider.
First responders were called at 9 p.m. on Saturday and encountered one vehicle in the center median while another was in the southbound ditch.
Lumsden Fire Department said one male patient was pulled from the vehicle in the southbound ditch by bystanders. The patient was declared deceased on scene by EMS. One male patient trapped in the vehicle in the centre media was also declared deceased on scene by EMS.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders released a statement Sunday saying, ” It is with profound sadness that the Saskatchewan Roughriders mourn the loss of Jayden Dalke, who passed away in a car accident.” The 30-year-old linebacker was also team captain.
The Lumsden Fire Department closed their post on social media saying, “Please respect the families and friends of the two victims and allow them to grieve. Practice kindness.”
