Prince Albert RCMP had a challenging time rounding up three people following a vehicle robbery on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation.

Around 4:30pm on Tuesday, a man approached two people, threatened them with a firearm and stole their truck.

Officers located the stolen truck on Highway 355 and attempted a traffic stop. The stolen truck did not stop and continued at a high rate of speed into oncoming traffic. Other motorists, including police officers, had to swerve to avoid collisions.

The truck drove over a tire deflation device and continued for several minutes until coming to a stop on Sturgeon Lake Road. The male driver discharged the firearm in the air and fled on foot. He was later found hiding in a swamp.

There were two women in the stolen truck. They drove the disabled truck to a nearby beach and then attempted to swim away. The officers went into the water and arrested the pair.

The trio are slated to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Thursday. Twenty-one-year-old Thoren Daniels from the Sturgeon Lake First Nation, 29-year-old Keanna Knife from Prince Albert and 21-year-old Savanna Mickelson from Saskatoon face a long list of charges.
