Fire crews responded to a house fire Saturday afternoon. The call come in from the 100 block of 7th Street East at 3:39 p.m.

The Saskatoon Fire Department says arriving firefighters could see heavy black smoke coming from the home.

Fire crews used multiple hose lines to apply water to the basement fire. No one was hurt, everyone got out of the house safely however one pet was found dead by firefighters.

A fire investigator is determining the cause, origin and damage estimate.
