The Province is sharing its plan to expand access to legal services in 2025 in conjunction with Access to Justice Week, running until the 31st.
Several initiatives put in place this year include amendments to the Legal Profession Act, which will allow non-lawyer legal professionals who meet the criteria to provide legal services in a variety of areas. The provincial government also invested $3.38 million in the Court Modernization Project to ensure courts are safe and accessible.
Another $665,000 was allocated to supporting the expansion of traffic safety courts, and $447,000 to the development of municipal bylaw court hubs to streamline and improve municipal bylaw enforcement.
