Statistics Canada says, as a group, in terms of police-reported hate crimes, Jews are most often targeted. In 2018, there were 347 reports as compared to 173 with respect to Muslims. 173 was also the number of police-reported hate crimes against someone based on sexual orientation. Dating back to 2016, Jews have consistently been the larger target. In Saskatchewan, there were 30 police-reported hate crimes in 2018. There had been 20 the year before. Eighteen involved race or ethnicity, seven for religion, four for sexual orientation, and one was based on some other motivation.
