The labour dispute at the Co-Op refinery in Regina, that’s been going on since December 5th, finally hit Yorkton.
About 20 Unifor members set up a blockade at the York Road cardlock. One of them, Derek Emperingham, was asked if there was any particular reason Yorkton was chosen.
He says it’s one of the busier card locks . He also says it was to put pressure on Co-op to get back to the table.
The union and Federated Co-Op actually are meeting with special mediator Vince Ready and have been for more than a week.
