Battlefords RCMP say one of their officers on night patrol stopped a break-in in progress overnight Thursday.
Around 1:30 a.m. an officer in a marked police vehicle in on patrol in North Battleford was flagged down by a member of the public who reported a break and enter in progress at a business on 101 Street in North Battleford. In a news release he RCMP say the officer responded and saw an individual wearing a ski mask attempting to enter a business with a crowbar.
The suspect tried to take off on foot, but it was a no-through road, and he was arrested shortly after.
Forty-four-year-old Michael Rousseau of North Battleford is charged with one count each break and enter, disguise with intent, and possession of break-in instrument.
Inspector Ryan How, Battlefords RCMP Detachment Commander says, “The public’s help was instrumental in this case, especially given their report was given to an RCMP officer already on patrol in the area.” He notes that keeping police informed about what’s happening is a meaningful way to contribute.
