Regina Police have arrested a 40-year-old in relation to theft, drug trafficking and driving dangerously.
At 7:30 p.m. on Friday, police were called to the 3100 block of East Truesdale Driver for a report of a hit and run. The caller told police that a van had driven over a front lawn and crashed into a fence. The suspect driver then ran away on foot.
A second report was called in shortly after from one block away. The caller, a delivery driver, told police that their vehicle had been stolen while they were making a delivery at a home.
Police learned that the suspect then drove the stolen vehicle to White City where he robbed a local business and tried to steal someone’s car while they were inside it. He was unsuccessful and made his way back into the city, driving dangerously, as another report was called in in the area of McDonald Street and Park Street.
The driver soon collided with a vehicle and sustained what appeared to be minor injuries. He was treated on scene by EMS before being arrested. The stolen vehicle was taken into custody, and a search of the of the van turned up cocaine, methamphetamine, and evidence of drug trafficking,
Christopher Gettle is facing six charges. He made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court Monday morning at 9:30 a.m.
