The Executive Director at the Friendship Inn says raising 200,000 meals through the holiday Fill the Plate campaign is vital for the Friendship Inn.
Their anticipated need is to provide half a million meals this year. Once again, Nutrien is stepping up to match donations made in December up to a total of $125,000 so donations will double to help the Inn reach its goal this holiday season.
Sandra Kary with the Friendship Inn says what really matters about providing food to people is – where would they be otherwise – when community members are already facing a daily desperate need of hunger.
“Food really matters. It’s a daily need and if we didn’t provision it on a daily basis, I think we would have a community struggling even harder.”
Jeff Holzman, Nutrien’s Senior Vice President Investor Relations urges the community to take part saying that The Friendship Inn’s Fill the Plate campaign supports an essential service that offers nourishment, dignity, and connection for individuals and families in need all year long.
Every year the Inn must fundraise 95 per cent of the financial resources required to deliver its Free Meal Program and every meal costs $5.
