Saskatoon Police were called out last night after a transit driver reported five teens had bear sprayed and spit at them.
The call came in at 8:21 p.m. from 33rd Street and Avenue B. Police spotted five youths a short distance away and were taking them into custody when one of the girls allegedly sprayed an officer in the face with bear spray.
Two girls were arrested at the scene. The boys took off but were rounded up by additional officers arriving on the scene.
A 16 year old girl and four other teens are in custody facing numerous weapons charges and assault a police officer.
A 33 year old man is facing charges after an assault with a hammer in the 300 block of Avenue South on Wednesday. Police were called around 3:30 in the afternoon. The two men involved apparently knew each other. The accused is also believed to be responsible for causing damage to a nearby building during the incident. He is charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
