Two Canada West Conference titles will be handed out this weekend in Saskatoon.
The first one will be awarded to the winner of Friday night’s single-game women’s basketball final as the U of S hosts Alberta at the P-A-C. Saskatchewan is going after their fourth Conference championship in the last five years and have won the single-game final the last five times they’ve hosted it. First tip-off is 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, at the same time across College Drive at Merlis Belsher Place, the Huskie men’s hockey team is home to U-B-C to open a best-of-three conference final. For the first time since 1996, the perennial champions from Alberta are not in the final after losing to the Thunderbirds last weekend.
Although all four teams are guaranteed a spot in their respective U Sports tournaments, winning Canada West insures a better seeding at nationals.
