Prince Albert RCMP say their officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a truck on Sturgeon Lake First Nation around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday but the vehicle didn’t stop instead it took off, into a ditch, and collided with a fence.
The driver then fled. RCMP say they believed the person driving as the same person wanted on warrant by police in connection to a vehicle-pedestrian accident in Little Red River the night of December 10th. RCMP and EMS responded and located a woman who was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Their investigation determined there was an altercation between the injured woman and a man in the truck who they identified as Jack Sanderson.
In the most recent incident this week, after the driver fled from the traffic stop, RCMP Police Dog Services tracked a suspect to a home on the First Nation, and a 34-year-old-man was arrested.
Jack Sanderson was in court Wednesday to face seven new charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and operate a conveyance while prohibited. That is on top of five other charges from the pedestrian-vehicle accident.
