A 33-year-old semi-trailer driver from Winnipeg was killed in a collision with another semi Wednesday afternoon just east of Broadview.
A Saskatchewan RCMP news release says the Broadview detachment received a report of a collision near the intersection of Highway #1 and Highway #201, about two kilometres east of Broadview at about 2:25 p.m. on December 17. Investigating officers determined two semis collided, while a third semi left the roadway. It’s not known yet as to whether the third semi was involved in the collision or took evasive action to avoid it. The semi driver who was killed was declared deceased at the scene by attending E-M-S and his family has been notified. He was the driver of one of the semis in the initial collision. The driver and a passenger of the other semi involved in the initial collision were taken to hospital by E-M-S with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The driver of the third semi didn’t report any injuries to police. The Trans-Canada Highway was closed temporarily, but has been re-opened. Broadview RCMP continue to investigate with the help of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
