Drugs and Guns Seized in Saskatoon
A 20 year-old man and a 19 year-old woman are facing 30 charges following an investigation by Saskatoon Police in the city’s Pacific Heights neighbourhood. Last week, officers believed that the two may have been trafficking drugs and were in possession of firearms. Around 8:30 Saturday night a high-risk traffic stop was conducted on Betts Avenue and both the man and woman were arrested. A search of a home in the 300 block of Michener Court resulted in police seizing a loaded sawed-off 9 mm carbine rifle with a laser sight scope and a loaded 9 mm pistol – both with rounds in the magazine, 100 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, a small amount of pre-packaged cocaine, MDMA, cannabis products, around $8000 thousand dollars in cash, approximately $4000 thousand dollars in designer goods, a Dodge Charger SXT and two cell phones.
Lloydminster Drug Bust
Five long rifles, a restricted pistol with ammunition, several debit and fuel cards along with a number of knives and swords were recovered by Lloydminster RCMP during a search warrant in the 5600 block of 53rd Avenue. Police say multiple stolen cheques from local businesses along with 12 grams of suspected fentanyl and 25 grams of suspected cocaine were also seized. As a result of the search, 34 year-old Korey Long, 26 year-old Kimberly Mason, 34 year-old Shane Riley and 38 year-old Reena McCallum all of Lloydminster have been charged with a number offences including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Riley’s whereabouts is currently wanted as his whereabouts is unknown. Police say Riley is considered armed and dangerous. Speeding Leads to Crack Cocaine Seizure
A vehicle pulled over for excessive speed heading eastbound on Highway 16 turned into a drug bust. Maidstone RCMP say the vehicle was doing 174 kilometres an hour last Thursday and the posted speed limit is 110 km/h. After talking with the 25 year old woman driving and a 23 year old man in the passenger seat, RCMP arrested them, got a search warrant and search the vehicle where they say they found 4 vacuum sealed bags of suspected crack cocaine. The drugs were approximately 370 grams which RCMP say is about 37-hundred single doses of the drug. A loaded pistol was also seized. Manal Ali Fawaz and Garnett O’Connor, both of Edmonton are facing multiple weapons and drug charges. They were in Lloydminster court on Monday.
Cache of Weapons
Prince Albert and Creighton RCMP have netted a cache of weapons. They executed a search warrant on a home in Creighton and seized: 13 non-restricted guns; two prohibited firearms; several hundred rounds of ammunition; two explosive detonator cords; one conducted energy weapon; three prohibited knives; one home-made fire suppressor; and electronic devices including a computer and two cell phones. 30 year old Jacob Christianson is facing charges a variety of weapons related offences including unauthorized importation of a prohibited device. He is back in Creighton Provincial Court on April 14th.
