Iranian Canadians, human rights advocates, students and allies are gathering for a rally in Saskatoon on Saturday in solidarity with the victims in Iran.
Over the last two weeks, over 6000 Iranians including 92 children have been killed following protests that started in late December. The protests were spurred by a drop in the rial, the Iranian currency, and were met with a violent crackdown by the Islamic Republic regime. This included a complete internet blackout for citizens.
Now, the Saskatoon Iranian Cultural Association is organizing a march at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, calling for action to support the people of Iran. The march will start at College Dr. and Wiggins Road and continue along College Drive and 4th Ave N, before wrapping up at the Kiwanis Memorial Fountain.
