The Saskatchewan Rattlers are heading out on the road again for their second “Dunk Out Bullying” tour along with Saskatchewan Roughrider defensive end Charleston Hughes.
Starting Wednesday March 4th, the Rattlers along with Hughes, other Rider players and former NHLers will travel across the province to different schools including Saskatoon’s Father Vachon and Chief Whitecap School to promote anti-bullying.
Manager of Marketing and Communications with the Rattlers, Raul Garcia says the all-star team of athletes will go head-to-head against a team from the local school in an exhibition game of basketball.
During halftime, Charleston Hughes will then present to students and staff at the school about effects of bullying and how sports played a role in helping him not become a victim to bullying.
Garcia says this tour will extend its reach 500 kilometres north of Saskatoon to the First Nation of English River.
A tour will make its way to five schools between March 4th and 25th.
March 4th – English River – 1 p.m.
March 5th – Father Vachon School – 12:30 p.m.
March 11th – Kenaston – 1 p.m.
March 13th – Chief Whitecap School – 12:30 p.m.
