Onion Lake RCMP have laid charges in connection to the death last year of 31 year old Shane Opissinow from Onion Lake Cree Nation.

In May of 2018, RCMP were notified a body in a slough next to Nine Mile Road in Onion Lake.

RCMP say it was a lengthy and complex investigation but they have determined that the victim died as the result of a hit and run accident.

31 year old Danny Boy Thunder Makokis of Onion Lake Cree Nation has been charged with failing to remain at the scene of a collision. (vmf March 3/20)
