There are 2 aspects of the COVID-19 outbreak that governments and communities have to deal with, along with individuals, and they are public health and how it affects the economy.
During Tuesday’s Question Period, official opposition Leader Ryan Meili questioned the Premier about what the specific plans are in particular for the economic disruptions, saying Scott Moe had been vague when he answered on Monday.
Moe replied that they are working with provincial partners and around the world about the health impacts and about economic impacts.
He met with members of the Canada Business Council Tuesday morning and he ensures the public that as they build the budget they are working with the best estimates they can for interest rates.
The U.S. Federal Reserve has announced the biggest interest rate cut since the 2008 recession and the Bank of Canada rate is expected on Wednesday.
Meili responded to a quote from a few days ago with the Premier’s jest that a worldwide outbreak might be a good reason for a snap election.
Meili called it next level infection control, sending everyone in the legislature out to shake hands door-to-door and gather in large groups.
