Regina Police say that since January 1st, they have been made aware of 85 overdoses, 51 of which they responded to, administering Narcan 18 times. Three people have died due to an overdose and three other fatalities remain under investigation. Police in that city are urging the public to be aware of the threat posed by street drugs, in particular, Fentanyl. Police say that, even if people aren’t making good choices for themselves, others around them should be aware of the higher-than-usual potential for drug overdose and have a safety plan. People can access Naloxone kits and there is no danger of prosecution when calling 9-1-1. The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act protects from charges, anyone who is experiencing, or anyone who is present when someone else is experiencing, a drug overdose.
