The Saskatoon Police are continuing to investigate a shooting that took place at an establishment in the 400 block of 21st Street late Tuesday night.
Police say they have a 25 year-old man custody, although no charges have been formally laid at this time after the man allegedly fired two shots with a firearm described by witnesses as a rifle.
No one was hurt after up to three patrons intervened and apprehended the suspect until officers arrived.
Inspector Cam McBride says he can’t confirm exactly what time the shooting happened other than fact the incident happened late Tuesday night and that officers quickly to the scene.
A news release from Saskatoon Police did say that the shooting happened around 1 o’clock Wednesday morning.
McBride says at this time police don’t know what the motive behind the shooting could have been, although they’ll likely look into the suspect’s social media accounts to determine the shooter’s state of mind prior to the incident.
McBride when speaking to reporters Wednesday afternoon, couldn’t give an exact number of how many patrons were at the establishment at the time of the incident. He said there were “several” patrons present at the time of the shooting.
Police do say the man will be facing a number of weapons-related charges.
No charges have been formally laid at this time and anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is asked to contact Saskatoon Police or Crime Stoppers.
