A 21-year-old woman from Saskatoon is dead as the result of the serious motor vehicle collision that closed down Highway #40 east of Sweetgrass First Nation Tuesday morning.

A Saskatchewan RCMP news release says the Battlefords detachment responded to a collision between a truck and an S-U-V – along with local fire, EMS and STARS – at about 7:30 a.m. The woman was a passenger in the truck and was declared deceased at the scene by EMS. Her family has been notified. The driver of the truck was taken to hospital by STARS with injuries described as serious in nature. The driver of the S-U-V was transported to hospital by ambulance with injuries described as serious in nature. The Battlefords RCMP continue to investigate with the help of a Saskatchewan RCMP reconstructionist.
